Description
A sophisticated and rich Corton wine by Louis Jadot
The estate
Established since 1859, Maison Louis Jadot is a true benchmark in Burgundy. Its adventure began with the acquisition of a plot of land in 1826. Its trading activity led to its swift international recognition. Today and since 1992, the house is managed by Pierre-Henry Gagey and still ensures that Burgundy wines remain accessible to those who love high-quality wines.
At the head of Maison Louis Jadot since 1992, Pierre-Henry Gagey entrusted his position to Thomas Seiter (Bouchard Père et Fils) and role of General Manager to his son Thibault Gagey in September 2022.
The vineyard
This Grèves Grand Cru Domaine Louis Jadot 2021 is a Corton wine made from a south-east facing parcel of vines which derives its uniqueness from its siliceous soil.
The vintage
2021 is a year marked by severe frost at the beginning of April and unstable weather conditions throughout the year. Despite a below-average harvest, the quality is reflected through the floral and well-balanced white wines as well as vibrant, full and aromatic red wines.
Vinification and ageing
The hand-picked grapes are then destemmed before maceration in open wooden and stainless steel vats for 3 to 4 weeks. Fermentation accompanied by 2 daily punchings of the cap. Aged for 18 months in oak barrels from the estate's cooperage (1/3 new).
The blend
Pinot Noir (100%).
