Description
A Clos Vougeot wine harmoniously combining complexity and refinement
The estate
The Maison Louis Jadot, established since 1859, is a true reference in Burgundy. Its adventure began with the acquisition of the Beaune Premier Cru "Clos des Ursules" in 1826. Owner of prestigious vineyard plots, Maison Louis Jadot perpetuates a know-how passed down from generation to generation, offering enthusiasts the best of Burgundy.
At the head of Maison Louis Jadot since 1992, Pierre-Henry Gagey handed over his position in September 2022 to Thomas Seiter (Bouchard Père et Fils) and the General Management to his son Thibault Gagey.
The vintage
The rather mild winter of 2022 paved the way for an early summer marked by intense heat. Repeated heatwaves raised concerns about the effects of high temperatures on the vine, but salvific rains preserved their balance. In September, despite climatic challenges, the harvest revealed a rich vintage, testifying to the exceptional robustness and resilience of the vine.
The vineyard
This Grand cru Domaine Louis Jadot 2022 from Louis Jadot is a Clos Vougeot wine, an emblematic terroir of 50 hectares in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. Second owner among the 88 that this Clos counts, Maison Louis Jadot watches over an exceptional vineyard of nearly 0.5 hectare, facing due east and resting on clay-limestone soils.
Vinification and aging
Manual harvest followed by a rigorous sorting before destemming. Maceration in open wooden and stainless steel vats for 3 to 4 weeks. Fermentation accompanied by 2 daily punch-downs. Aging for 18 months in oak barrels from the estate's cooperage (1/3 of which are new).
Grape variety
Pinot noir (100%).
