Description
The minerality and aromatic palette of a Chablis Grand Cru wine
The estate
Founded in 1923 following the initiative of Abbé Balitrand, the winemaking cooperative La Chablisienne is the most important producer of Chablis wines. From Petit Chablis, to Chablis, Chablis Premiers Crus and Chablis Grands Crus, and the wines from the legendary Château Grenouille, La Chablisienne produces around thirty different vintages and crus which enable lovers of great Burgundy wines to discover the multiple profiles of Chablis wines.
The vineyard
La Chablisienne's 2003 "Les Preuses" is a Chablis Grand Cru wine made from vineyards located on the right bank of the Serein river. Enjoying a south-west facing sun exposure, the vines are 30 years old on average and are planted on Kimmeridgian clay-limestone soils.
Vinification and ageing
Cold static settling. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are carried out in barrels and vats. This Chablis Grand Cru is aged for 20 months on fine lees, in vats and in barrels.
The blend
Chardonnay (100%).
Chablis Grand Cru "Les Preuses" 2003 by La Chablisienne: Characteristics and tasting tips
The tasting
Colour
This brilliant wine showcases a beautiful golden colour.
Nose
Although the first nose is discreet and marked by a subtle minerality, the bouquet becomes more complex when aerated and reveals refreshing fragrances of lime blossom and white flowers.
Palate
The ample and persistent palate harmoniously blends density, balance and freshness. The finish is persistent and seductive with its characteristic notes of wax.
