The aromatic power and freshness of a great organic white wine from Bandol
The estate
The family estate of La Bastide Blanche is poised in an idyllic setting on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea in Sainte-Anne-de-Castellet. Since 1972, this estate has been producing fine wines in the Bandol appellation.
Dedicated to nature and protecting it, La Bastide Blanche produces organic wines. The vineyard covers an area of 50 hectares, where the typical soils of the appellation (red clay, clay-limestone and gravelly soils) contribute to the signature style of these wines, which are recognised for their high quality and their great ageing potential.
The vineyard
This 2016 Bandol Cuvée Estagnol white wine by Domaine de La Bastide Blanche stems from a 1.5-hectare vineyard whose vines are 69 years old on average.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand. Pneumatic pressing is followed by a 6-day skin contact maceration. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out in temperature-controlled vats, followed by a blocked malolactic fermentation in order to preserve the well-balanced flavours and a pleasant acidity.

The tasting
Colour
The colour is golden with brilliant brown highlights.
Nose
Opening with notes of acacia, myrtle and hyssop, the nose gradually reveals notes of star anise and fresh herbs.
Palate
A beautiful freshness in the attack, the palate, revealing a balanced, full and bitter expression, seduces with its density and its notes of hyssop and badian.
Service
For an optimal tasting, decant two hours before serving at 8-9°C.
Food and wine pairing
