Description
The balance and aromatic richness of a Tuscan red wine
The estate
After discovering the idyllic scenery of the medieval village of Il Borro, not far from Florence, while on a hunting trip, Ferruccio Ferragamo bought an estate in 1993 with the ambition of creating, from an 85-hectare vineyard, cuvées of excellence recognised among the great wines of Tuscany.
The vineyard
Il Borro 2019 is a Tuscan wine from a 45-hectare vineyard. The soils, mainly sand and silt with a clay sub-layer, are perfectly drained, providing ideal conditions for viticulture. The varied altitude of the vineyards, ranging from 300 to 500 metres, and the south-easterly exposure of the plots, contribute to the diversity of microclimates, favouring optimal ripening of the grapes.
Winemaking and ageing
After a manual harvest, the grapes are sorted and destemmed before fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 18 months. Finally, this IGT Toscana wine is aged in the bottle for 6 months.
