Description
The finesse and balance of a fine Tuscan red wine
The estate
An essential reference for fine Italian wines, Frescobaldi embodies the excellence of Tuscan viticulture. Comprising seven different estates located in emblematic areas, Frescobaldi stands out for its ability to illustrate the diverse expressions of the greatest Tuscan terroirs. Each of the estates has its own history, its own terroir, and passionate men and women who are driven by the desire to produce fine wines.
Frescobaldi - Tenuta di Nipozzano is an estate renowned for its wines that express the rich and refined nuances of the Sangiovese grape in Castello Nipozzano.
The wine
Produced in the IGT Toscana appellation, only in the best years and from the Sangiovese grapes of the eponymous vineyard, Montesodi by Frescobaldi - Tenuta di Nipozzano is a great Tuscan wine that was created in 1974. Boasting a bold character, Montesodi stands out for its aromatic expression and persistence in the mouth.
The vintage
A cool, sunny winter preceded a spring with plenty of rainfall, replenishing the soil's water reserves. The summer heat was offset by a fresh breeze and cool nights, ideal conditions to guarantee an optimal ripening of the grapes until the harvest. Ripe and concentrated, the grapes reveal a beautiful freshness.
Vinification and ageing
The hand-picked grapes are rigorously sorted in order to keep only the grapes that boast a high quality. Malolactic fermentation following devatting. Aged in 30 hl French and Austrian oak barrels for 18 months, followed by a few months of additional bottle ageing before release, in order to develop the aromatic expression and elegance of this wine.
The blend
Sangiovese (100%).
