Description
A fresh and well-structured Pauillac Second Wine
The estate
A Classified 5th Growth of Pauillac, Château Pédesclaux was founded under the leadership of the wine broker, Urbain-Pierre Pédesclaux, in the early 19th century. Acquiring the estate in 2009, the Lorenzetti family has elevated it to the highest level by equipping it with state-of-the-art infrastructure. 2014 notably marked the construction of a new gravity-fed winery, designed by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte. In 2018, Manon Lorenzetti took over the reins of the property, dedicating to it her own dynamic energy and passion.
The vineyard
Château Pédesclaux produces Pauillac wine from a 50-hectare vineyard, 46.1 hectares of which are in production. Since 2019, the vineyard has been converting to organic farming. The vineyard is managed by Vincent Bache-Gabrielsen, advised by the oenologist Eric Boissenot.
The wine
This Fleur de Pédesclaux, the Second Wine of the estate, is made from grapes grown on a terroir composed of Garonne gravel, resting upon a limestone base.
Vinification and ageing
The hand-picked grapes are rigorously sorted by hand, first on the grape bunches and then by sorting each individual grape.
The blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (50%)
Merlot (48%)
Petit Verdot (2%).
