The estate

The Casato Prime Donne estate in Montalcino is in the heart of Tuscany, in the southern part of the Chianti appellation. Owned by the family of Donatella Cinelli Colombini since the 16th century, the estate has undergone a turning point in the last three generations, with the land being passed down from mother to daughter. Since 1998, Donatella Cinelli Colombini has been working hard to restore the estate of her ancestors to its former glory. To do this, she relies on the expertise of a team of highly-skilled women, making the estate tje first exclusively women-run winery in Italy.

The vineyard

Casato Prime Donne Brunello di Montalcino 2018 is produced in Montalcino, a Tuscan terroir historically cultivating Sangiovese. Casato Prime Donne oversees a 40-hectare vineyard that has been organically farmed since 2018. Of the 17 hectares planted with Sangiovese, each year 10 hectares are meticulously selected to produce this Casato Prime Donne Brunello Montalcino. The vineyard is located at an altitude of 225 metres in a cool area of northern Montalcino. Facing south, the vines are anchored in rich soil composed of clay and silt, producing one of the most emblematic Brunello di Montalcino wines.
