The Devillard Family: a story written and rewritten
It is a story that is written over generations and according to the appellations, a story of a family passionate for the vineyards it loves: the Devillard family. Owners of four estates in Burgundy for several generations, an exceptional situation among Burgundians, the Devillards have a heritage that stretches from north to south, from the Côte de Nuits to the Mâconnais.
Domaine des Perdrix, Château de Chamirey, Domaine de La Ferté, Domaine de La Garenne: discover the jewels of this demanding and innovative estate, which reveal prodigiously all the diversity of the great terroirs of Burgundy.
Respect for the terroir: a central value
Vintage after vintage, the Devillard family remains faithful to their philosophy, so close to their hearts: "that of producing the greatest possible wines, in the most beautiful expression of their terroirs, marked by balance and elegance." Respect for the terroir is indeed a central value within the family: sustainable agriculture, limited yields, plot work, constant monitoring of the evolution of the ageing of the grapes... The development of the estate’s terroir has been carried out with a constant quest for excellence.
Domaines Devillard: the expression of the great terroirs of Burgundy
Domaine des Perdrix: the richness of the Côte de Nuits
Taken over in 1996 by the Devillard family, Domaine des Perdrix stands out as one of the most beautiful properties on the Côte de Nuits. Today at the head of a 15-hectare vineyard with more than half classified as Premier Cru and Grand Cru, the property oversees the exceptional terroirs of Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges and Nuits-Saint -Georges Premier Cru “Aux Perdrix,” a virtual monopoly. Owners of a 1.14-hectare plot of Échezeaux Grand Cru, the Devillards enjoy a diversity of extremely rare terroirs, especially when bearing in mind that Burgundy only has 33 Grand Crus.
Château de Chamirey, a jewel of Mercurey
Owned by the Devillard family for 3 generations, Château de Chamirey entered the family fold in 1932. Today, the estate oversees 37 hectares of vines, making it the largest estate in Mercurey. Built on a rocky outcrop in the 18th century, the Château de Chamirey benefits from a privileged location in the heart of the best terroirs of Mercurey in the Chalonnaise coast. At the head of 6 Premier Crus in total, they are known to hold the famous plots of the Premier Cru "Clos des Ruelles," a monopoly for red and that of the Premier Cru "La Mission" for white; exceptional terroirs which make the reputation of the Château de Chamirey Castle.
Domaine de La Ferté: the finest expressions of Givry
Located on the best terroirs of Givry, the Domaine de la Ferté benefits from an exceptional vineyard. And for good reason: with a south-east exposure, south for the best plots and clay-limestone soils, all the conditions are met for this remarkable terroir to produce the finest wines. With its 6 hectares of vines, including 1 hectare of Premier Cru “La Servoisine”, the estate promises bottles as grandiose as they are exclusive. Indeed, already mentioned in the possessions of the monks from 1170 for the particularity of its climate, the Premier Cru "La Servoisine" offers a refined expression typical of its terroir of origin. With its exceptional climates, the Domaine de la Ferté is one of the most sought-after properties today.
Domaine de La Garenne: global ambassador for Mâcon
Belonging to the Beaumont family, the Domaine de la Garenne joined the Devillard family in 2008. Superbly located on a hilltop of the Mâcon-Azé, Mâcon Buissières and Pouilly-Fuissé appellations, the 7 hectares of the estate benefit from an ideal southern orientation for a property entirely devoted to the king of grape varieties in the region: Chardonnay. Thanks to the work of the estate's technical team and constant monitoring by its oenologist Robert Vernizeau, the Domaine de la Garenne quickly rose to the rank of the best producers in the region, becoming a true ambassador of the Mâconnais.
