Description
An exceptional Chambolle-Musigny marking the marriage between two fine vineyards of old vines
The estate
Patrice Rion founded the eponymous estate with his wife in 1990. A forerunner with a wealth of experience within his family’s estate, Patrice Rion advocates a viticulture that is solidly based on innovation and research. Their son Maxime joined the family estate in 2005. Over the years, Domaine Michèle et Patrice Rion has become known as an essential reference for fine Burgundy wines.
The vineyard
Located in Nuits-Saint-Georges and Chambolle-Musigny, Domaine Michèle et Patrice Rion reigns over a vineyard composed mainly of Pinot Noir grapes, which are the object of rigorous attention and manual work.
The estate also vinifies grapes from other winemakers to develop a varied range, magnifying the nuances and richness of these two iconic Burgundian appellations. These wines are renowned for their finesse, freshness and minerality.
The wine
The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Village Vieilles Vignes by Domaine Michèle and Patrice Rion is made from vines that are 50 years old on average and come from two complementary terroirs. The first parcel is at the bottom of the hillside with deep clay-limestone soil and the second is at the top of the slope on limestone outcrops.
Vinification and ageing
The hand-picked grapes are rigorously sorted before fermentation in open stainless steel vats for 3 weeks. The wine is aged in barrels (50% new) for 18 months.
The blend
This Chambolle-Musigny Village Vieilles Vignes 2019 by Domaine Michèle and Patrice Rion is a 100% Pinot Noir.
