The estate
Owned by the Beaumont Family, the Domaine de la Garenne partnered with the Devillard Family in 2008. Superbly located on a hilltop of the Mâcon-Azé, Mâcon Buissières and Pouilly-Fuissé appellations, the 7 hectares of the estate benefit from a perfect south-facing orientation, ideal for a property entirely devoted to the region's king grape: chardonnay. Thanks to the work of the estate's technical team and the constant monitoring of its oenologist Robert Vernizeau, Domaine de la Garenne quickly rose to the rank of the region's best producers, becoming a true ambassador of the Mâconnais.
The vineyard
Benefiting from an optimal altitude and ideal exposure, the vines are rooted in clay-limestone soils which, combined with generous sunshine, create ideal conditions for the development of chardonnay.
The vintage
The 2023 vintage in Burgundy is distinguished by a generous harvest and optimal maturity of the grapes, despite sometimes unstable weather. After a spring marked by a few episodes of frost, the summer, both hot and dry, was tempered by timely rainfall, thus providing ideal conditions for a homogeneous maturation of the harvest. The result is an exceptional vintage, marked by a remarkable harmony between fruit, freshness, and structure. A promising balance that suggests a great aging potential.
Vinification and aging
To ensure the best possible quality, the grape clusters are hand-picked. After the harvest, a manual sorting is carried out and the grapes are completely destemmed. They are then carefully pressed in a pneumatic press, and the juice obtained is kept in a temperature-controlled tank for 24 to 30 hours. The alcoholic and malolactic fermentations of this Pouilly-Fuissé wine take place in barrels before undergoing aging in Burgundy barrels.
