Description
The balance and illustration of a fine Californian wine
The estate
Since its creation in 1982, Dalla Valle Vineyards has become an essential reference among the finest wines in the Napa Valley, California.
That year, Naoko and Gustav Dalla Valle, originally from Japan and Italy respectively, moved to the Oakville Hills wine region with the ambition of producing wines that would enhance the west-facing, hillside terroir, and released their first vintage in 1986. Following many years of experience within prestigious international estates, the oenologist Maya Dalla Valle, joined her mother in 2017 as head of the estate.
Working closely with a team that includes the famous winemaker Edgar Alfaro and consulting oenologist Michel Rolland, both mother and daughter produce wines that are renowned beyond the country’s borders for their character and aromatic complexity.
The vineyard
Dalla Valle Vineyards reigns over a vineyard of around 8 hectares which, due to its proximity to the Bay of San Pablo, benefits from the refreshing influence of the sea breezes as well as from strong sunshine.
This Californian vineyard, which has been farmed organically since 2007 and biodynamically since 2019, is divided into a mosaic of plots of land resting on mineral-rich volcanic soils that guarantee an excellent drainage. Each of these parcels contributes to the signature wines of this great Californian estate.
The wine
Maya Dalla Valle is a Napa Valley wine named after the daughter of Naoko and Gustav Dalle Valle, the founders of the estate.
The vintage
A cool winter preceded a spring whose subtle alternation between mildness and rainy humidity was ideal for an even vegetative development. The warmer conditions during the summer ensured that the grapes ripened well.
Blend
Dalla Valle Vineyards' Maya 2019 comprises a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) and Cabernet Franc (40%).
