Description
The freshness and aromatic richness of a Napa Valley wine
The estate
The Dalla Valle Vineyard has its origins in 1982, when Naoko and Gustav Dalla Valle, from Japan and Italy respectively, settled in the winegrowing region of Oakville and quickly became aware of the potential of this Napa Valley wine terroir in California. Naoko was joined by her daughter, Maya, in 2017, an oenologist reputed for her experience at international estates, now at the head of the approximately 8-hectare estate.
Enjoying strong sunshine, the refreshing influence of breezes from San Pablo bay and excellent drainage, the Dalla Valle Vineyard, organically farmed since 2007 and using biodynamic agriculture since 2019, produces wines which are unanimously renowned for their delicious combination of character and complexity.
The vintage
A year marked by the fires in Napa Valley, 2017 began with heavy winter rainfall, which preceded a dry spring. Spikes of heat during the crop cycle encouraged quick vineyard development, all while maintaining a beautiful concentration and balance between acidity and tannic structure.
Winemaking and ageing
Harvests were carried out on 20 September. Ageing lasts for 20 months in barrels, 40% of which are new.
Blend
Dalla Valle Vineyards Collina 2017 is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (52%), Cabernet Franc (39%) and Petit Verdot (9%).
Tasting
Structured and with an exceptional length, Dalla Valle Vineyards Collina 2017 seduces with its freshness and concentration as well as its rich aromatic palette combining toasted notes with aromas of red fruit, nutmeg, vanilla and oak.
