Description
The elegance and richness of a Sauternes wine
The estate
With harvests first carried out in 1618, Clos Haut-Peyraguey is a historic Sauternes property. This Premier Grand Cru Classé of Sauternes in 1855 is also the smallest of the appellation in terms of surface area, covering 8.5 hectares. Located on the highest part of the Bommes hill, Clos Haut-Peyraguey takes its name from Peyraguey which means hill or promontory. Acquired in 2012 by Bernard Magrez, Clos Haut-Peyraguey is one of the most beautiful cru classés in Sauternes.
The vineyard
Clos Haut-Peyraguey 2022 is a Sauternes wine that stems from a 6-hectare single vineyard, located opposite Château d’Yquem. The vines are 38 years old on average and planted on gravel-sandy soils that rest on clayey subsoils.
The vintage
A mild and wet winter gave way to a dry and temperate spring. The summer was dry and scorching.
Winemaking and ageing
Hand-picked grape by grape. Gentle and long pressings accompanied by a rigorous selection of juices before fermentation in barrels.
Blend
Sémillon (80%)
Sauvignon Blanc (20%).
