Description
An exceptional Sauternes Grand Cru Classé by Bernard Magrez
The estate
With its first harvest carried out in 1618, Clos Haut-Peyraguey is a historic property in Sauternes. A Sauternes First Growth of 1855, this property is also the smallest in the appellation, with a surface of just 8.5 hectares. Located on the highest areas of the Bommes hill, the Clos Haut-Peyraguey takes its name from Peyraguey which means hill or promontory. Acquired in 2012 by Bernard Magrez, Clos Haut-Peyraguey is one of the most beautiful classified growths of Sauternes.
The vineyard
Located in Bommes, in the Sauternes appellation, the Château Clos Haut-Peyraguey vineyard covers 8.5 hectares of vines aged 40 years on average. The vines are planted in gravel-sandy soils upon clay subsoils. The vineyard is managed with sustainable viticulture.
The winemaking
Light settling with temperature control before fermentation in barrels (new oak or oak of one previous wine, depending on the character of each wine), regular racking.
The blend
95% Semillon, 5% Sauvignon Blanc
