Description
A complex and harmonious red wine from Haut-Médoc
The Château Sociando-Mallet is a red wine produced in the Haut-Médoc appellation. The domain has belonged to Jean Gautreau since 1969. The vineyard is 56 hectares with vines averaging 30 years of age. The estate benefits from a terroir consisting of gravel soil on a clay-limestone subsoil. The blend consists of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% of Merlot and 5% of a mix of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The wine is aged only in new barrels for 12 months with total ageing lasting an average of 18 months.
The vintage 1995 is a generous, racy wine with oak sublimely integrated into it. In general, Château Sociando-Mallet produces wines with a beautiful dark, deep colour. The nose is complex, offering aromas of black fruit, minerality and well-integrated oak. This wine gains harmony and complexity as it gets older. It shows freshness, uprightness and great length. This is a wine with very good ageing potential.
The organoleptic qualities described here are only valid for the year this wine was tasted. Be aware that the wine can evolve in the bottle over time and express other organoleptic qualities.
