A 2nd Grand Cru Classé of Pauillac, belonging to the elite of the Grands Crus of Bordeaux, Château Pichon Baron has signed, with its 2018 vintage, a great year in the history of the estate.

After a mild and rainy winter, the spring of 2018 was marked by heavy rains as well. The significant mildew pressure required great attention to the vineyard. The beautiful summer that took place in July then made it possible to obtain very ripe fruit. The high temperatures favoured a high degree of anthocyanins in the grapes, which had thick skins, a nice quality of tannins and perfect levels of acidity. At Château Pichon Baron, the grape harvest began on September 24 and ended on October 10.

The Château Pichon Baron 2018 also rewards the efforts and constant attention of the property's technical teams. From the vineyard to the cellar, nothing was left to chance. A very precise and rigorous selections both of the plots and within the plots allowed the teams to select only the most beautiful grapes.

Blending Cabernet Sauvignon (78%) and Merlot (22%), the Château Pichon Baron 2018 is aged in new oak barrels (80%) and barrels of one previous wine (20%) for 18 months.

The Grand Vin of the estate, the Château Pichon Baron 2018 epitomises the excellence of Pauillac Grands Crus. Intense and fruity, the aromatic bouquet offers a magnificent expression of the great terroirs of Pauillac, with notes of black fruits and spices.
