Description

A Rich and Precise Second Grand Cru Classé from Pauillac

The estate

2nd Grand Cru Classé in 1855, the Château Pichon Baron belongs to the elite of the Grands Crus of Pauillac, on the left bank of Bordeaux.

The vineyard

A true mosaic of terroirs and superbly located near the Gironde estuary, the vineyard of Château Pichon Baron extends over 73 hectares of vines planted on perfectly drained Médoc gravel soils. The oldest vines of the estate are used in the making of this emblematic Pauillac wine.

Vinification and aging

Parcel vinification. Moderate speed alcoholic fermentation to promote gentle extractions adapted to each terroir. Maceration of 15 to 18 days for young vines and 20 to 24 days for old vines. The aging is carried out in barrels, with a proportion of 80% new and 20% of one wine, for 18 months.

Blend

Cabernet Sauvignon (80%)
Merlot (20%).
