Description
The unique style of an iconic Margaux
The Grand Vin of the eponymous estate, the Château Palmer 2017 yet again confirms the excellence of its rank, having become one of the must-have’s of the Bordeaux wine market.
Vintage after vintage, this Third Classified Growth of 1855 in the Margaux appellation continues to seduce Bordeaux-lovers with its remarkable consistency and its unchanging, iconic style.
If it is true that great wines are born from great terroirs, it is often said that "great terroirs look to the water". Located in the immediate vicinity of the Gironde estuary, Château Palmer has long benefited from the protection of this river, which acts as a climate-regulator, shielding the vines of the property from the disastrous effects of frost during the month of April 2017. A perfect understanding of the plots and an environmentally conscious management of the vineyard with biodynamics practices has allowed the team to produce a great wine, despite this challenging vintage, a wine that offers an accurate and authentic expression of the complex Château Palmer terroir.
With a blend dominated by Merlot (54%), complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon (42%) and Petit Verdot (4%), Château Palmer 2017 clearly illustrates the philosophy of the estate. Perfectly balanced without being too overwhelming, this wine seduces with its harmony on the palate, developing an aromatic intensity upon a precise frame that reveals the softness of melted tannins. Bearing a unique and already magnificent style, the Château Palmer 2017 will evolve remarkable over time, offering the kind of noble depth to which only the greatest Grands Crus hold the secret.
