Description
The precision and elegance of a Margaux wine
The estate
Founded in 2001, Château Marojallia lies between the vineyards of Château Le Tertre and Château Mombrison, within the Margaux appellation on the left bank of Bordeaux. Advised by Muriel Andraud, creator of the first garage wines in Saint-Émilion with her husband, Jean-Luc Thunevin, Philippe Porcheron makes a fine wine which magnifies the exceptional potential of the Margaux appellation. Developed with rigour, passion and a perpetual quest for excellence, the wines of Château Marojallia are recognised by the greatest critics for their aromatic richness and quality.
The vineyard
Château Marojallia 2021 is a Margaux wine that stems from a 5.83-hectare vineyard. The vines are around 60 years old and are planted on deep gravel and sandy loam soils, typical features of the appellation.
The vintage
A contrasting year, 2021 began with a mild, wet winter that favoured early budding of the vines. The spring frosts had no impact on the vineyard. In spite of a strong mildew pressure, the ideal summer temperatures without any heatwaves and the mildness of September helped to preserve the terroir’s healthy condition and refine the ripening of the grapes.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified in stainless steel truncated cone-shaped vats. Vatting time: 30 to 38 days. Cold pre-fermentation maceration for 5 days at 6°C. The wine is aged exclusively in barrels (100% new French barrels - 7 coopers).
The blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (60%)
Merlot (40%).
