Description
A fruity and delicate Pessac-Léognan red wine
The estate
Under the aegis of the Bonnie family, the majestic Château Malartic-Lagravière has undergone a spectacular progression. This Graves Grand Cru Classé enjoys an exceptional location, with a vineyard superbly situated on a gravelly hillside. Equipped with state-of-the-art technical facilities, Château Malartic-Lagravière shines in the appellation with white and red wines that stand out among the finest in Pessac-Léognan.
The vineyard
Château Malartic-Lagravière 2021 is a Pessac-Léognan wine with vineyards across 73 hectares, 66 of which devoted to red wines. The vines, which are 28 years old on average, are planted on dry gravel and clay soils. The subsoil is made up of shell limestone and clay veins.
The vintage
2015 was marked by a significant drought until the end of July, followed by a healthy month of August, cooler and wetter, allowing for the grapes to reach a great ripeness and quality, in terms of both scent and tannins. This Château Malartic-Lagravière 2015 red was produced from even and ideal climatic conditions that made for a great vintage.
Winemaking and ageing
Harvested by hand, the grapes were carefully sorted before being vinified with precision in small truncated wooden or stainless steel thermo-regulated vats. Vatting time of 3 weeks. Early blending before maturing on fine lees in French oak barrels (65% new wood).
