Description
Chateau Malartic-Lagraviere red 2016: A Pessac-Leognan with tannins of great finesse
Chateau Malartic-Lagraviere red 2016 is produced in the Pessac-Leognan appellation. This vineyard of 46 hectares has vines that are, on average, 31 years old. The soil is composed of gravel, on a bed of limestone and clay. Chateau Malartic-Lagraviere is a blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. The wine is aged on fine lees in oak barrels (80% in new barrels).
Summer was well underway at the end of June, and it was extremely hot and dry. The deep-rooted vines reacted well to the abnormal weather conditions. The grapes finally reached maturity after a drought-ending rain on September 13th. Harvest was from September 29th- October 20th.
Chateau Malartic-Lagraviere red 2016 is quite the exception. A well-balanced wine with fine tannins and complex aromas. Chateau Malartic-Lagraviere is aromatic and tasty.
