Description
A well-balanced and refined Saint-Julien wine
The estate
Château Langoa Barton is an 1855 Classified Third Growth situated in the Saint-Julien appellation on the left bank of Bordeaux. The estate was acquired in 1821 by the influential trading company, Barton & Guestier, who enjoy a wealth of knowledge regarding the production of wine in the area surrounding Château Léoville Barton, acquired by the same family in 1826. Today, the Barton family is still at the helm of this estate
The vineyard
Château Langoa Barton’s vineyard spreads across 20 hectares of vines. Planted on gravel soil with clay subsoils, the vines are 35 years old on average and produce great Saint-Julien wines.
Vinification and ageing
Manual harvesting. The grapes are destemmed before being carefully sorted and crushed and then vinified by plot in temperature-controlled wooden tanks. Alcoholic fermentation for 7 to 10 days with pumping over to ensure a smooth extraction. Maceration for about 3 weeks before being run off into barrels by parcel. Aged for 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels (60% new oak).
The blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (73%)
Merlot (17%)
Cabernet Franc (10%)
