Characteristics and tasting tips for Château La Marzelle 2023
Tasting
With a beautiful freshness, this vintage combines silky and elegant tannins with a rich aromatic structure.
A lively and fruity Grand Cru Classé from Saint-Émilion
The estate
The history of Château La Marzelle began in the 17th century. This Grand Cru Classé from Saint-Émilion shines today by offering wines typical of its appellation.
The vineyard
The vineyard of Château La Marzelle covers 14.95 hectares in a single block on the old bed of the Isle, also known as "the High Terrace of Saint-Émilion". With an average age of 40 years and planted on soils composed of ancient sands, deep gravels and blue clays, the vines give birth to a great Saint-Émilion wine.
The vintage
A relatively cool and wet winter precedes a spring whose mildness promotes a homogeneous flowering and fruit set. However, the combination of non-excessive rainfall and high temperatures leads to significant mildew pressure, the impact of which is minimal on the vineyard thanks to the expertise of the teams. The hot and dry conditions of August and September ensure optimal ripening of the berries and a beautiful aromatic freshness.
Vinification and ageing
Gentle vinifications in vats or barrels. The ageing takes place in new French oak barrels but also in terracotta jars.
Blend
Merlot (80%)
Cabernet Franc (15%)
Cabernet Sauvignon (5%).
