Description
A Pauillac wine with a seductive elegance and balance
The estate
Located in the heart of the Pauillac appellation on the left bank of Bordeaux, Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste took its current form in 1855, although it was built in the 16th century. The wine estate was greatly influenced during its ownership by Raymond Dupin from 1930 to 1978. Dupin ceded the property to the Borie family, who have carried out numerous renovations since then. Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is today one of the most representative estates of the Pauillac appellation.
The vineyard
Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2018 is a Pauillac wine that stems from a 90-hectare vineyard, of which 58 are planted in a single block. The vines are 38 years old on average and are planted on deep gravelly outcroppings.
The wine
This 2018 vintage marks the Borie family's 40th harvest at the head of the estate.
Vinification and ageing
The manual harvest is followed by a double sorting on a vibrating table before and after destemming. Vatting for around 3 weeks. Aged in French oak barrels (75% new) for 16 to 18 months depending on the vintage.
The blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (78%)
Merlot (22%).
