Description
The expression and finesse of a Saint-Estèphe red wine
The estate
With origins dating back to the 15th century, Château de Pez is one of the oldest properties in the Saint-Estèphe appellation. Once belonging to the Pontac family, founders of Château Haut-Brion, this estate on the left bank of Bordeaux was sold as a property of the state during the French Revolution. Since 1995, Château de Pez has been the property of the Louis Roederer Champagne House.
The vineyard
Producing Saint-Estèphe wines, Château de Pez reigns over a 42-hectare vineyard, 38 of which are used for production. The vines are 25 years old on average and are planted on gravel hills with a clay-limestone subsoil. Certified HVE (High Environmental Value) level 3, the vineyard is managed by means of sustainable viticultural techniques. 3 hectares are dedicated to the practice of biodynamics.
The vineyard of Château de Pez comprises Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot vines.
