Characteristics and tasting advice for Coudoulet de Beaucastel 2023 from Château de Beaucastel
Tasting
Color
Bright gold color, enhanced by subtle green reflections, evoking freshness and elegance.
Nose
The nose seduces with its refined bouquet, mixing citrus aromas and delicate floral notes of rose petals.
Palate
In the mouth, the balance is remarkable: the tension and freshness of the citrus are accompanied by a fine saline bitterness, while the marsanne brings structure and length.
The vivacity and structure of a white wine from the Rhône Valley
The property
The Château de Beaucastel, whose origins date back to the 16th century, experienced a revival at the beginning of the 20th century under the impetus of Pierre Tramier. His son-in-law, Pierre Perrin, gives the estate a new dynamism, soon magnified by Jacques Perrin who ensures it international recognition. Today, the heirs of Jacques Perrin continue this commitment to excellence, placing this family estate among the greatest references of the wines of the Rhône Valley.
The vineyard
Located north of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, this Rhone Valley vineyard extends over a single plot of 110 hectares. Cultivated in Organic Agriculture since the 1960s, the vines thrive on a typical soil of the region: a surface covered with rolled pebbles resting on a subsoil mixing clays, sand and limestone.
The vintage
The year 2023 benefits from a balanced climate with a mild winter, a dry spring and a hot summer, promoting optimal maturation. The harvest, started on August 22, took place under a brilliant sun in excellent health conditions. Particular vigilance was necessary to preserve the freshness of the juices, especially for the rosés. The first wines reveal power, richness and freshness, promising a beautiful success.
Vinification and aging
The harvest is carried out manually, with a rigorous selection of bunches. The grapes, harvested in crates, are gently pressed using a pneumatic press. After careful settling, fermentation partially takes place in oak barrels and stainless steel tanks for eight months.
Blend
Bourboulenc (30%), marsanne (30%), viognier (30%), clairette (10%).
