A structured and aromatic red wine from Haut-Médoc
The estate
Château Citran is one of the oldest properties in the Médoc. In 1996, the Merlaut family took over the reins of the estate. This property produces elegant Haut-Médoc wines that combine tradition and modernity.
The vineyard
35-year-old vines cover nearly 100 hectares of vineyard. These vines are planted in a mosaic of gravel-sandy soils with limestone and clay-limestone soils.
Vinification and ageing
The vinification is carried out in thermoregulated vats (stainless steel, oak and cement). Malolactic fermentation is carried out in barrels (33% new oak), as is the ageing with quarterly racking.
The blend
The Château Citran 2020 is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (45%), Merlot (40%), Cabernet Franc (15%).
The tasting
Colour
The wine displays a deep purple-red colour.
Nose
Fresh and fruity, the nose combines notes of small red fruits (strawberry, morello cherry) and blackcurrant.
Palate
With a straight-forward attack, the structured palate reveals good length, fruity aromas and delicious concentration.
