The property

Founded in 1968 following the merger of 5 estates, Castellare di Castellina is one of the most beautiful references of Tuscan wines. Recognized for their quality, the wines of the estate derive their uniqueness as much from their exceptional terroir as from their label whose bird represents the deep respect of the estate towards the surrounding nature.

The vineyard

Located in the heart of the Chianti region, the vineyard extends over 80 hectares near the small village of Castellina. On the heights of a natural amphitheater, this terroir planted on clay-limestone soils gives birth to Tuscan wines that are full-bodied, powerful, and with significant aging potential.

The wine

Produced since 1993, Il Poggiale Riserva is a Chianti Classico wine from a unique plot located at an altitude between 350 and 400 meters, benefiting from a limestone soil and an ideal exposure.

Vinification and aging

The grapes are vinified in stainless steel tanks, with a fully completed malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged between 12 and 18 months in barrels, 20% of which are new wood, before an additional 12 months of refining in the bottle, for a harmonious and complex result.

Blend

Sangiovese (90%), canaiolo (5%), ciliegiolo (5%).
