Description

The aromatic richness and delicacy of a Meursault white wine

The estate

The Bouchard Père & Fils estate was founded in Beaune in 1731. With almost three centuries of history, Bouchard Père & Fils is one of the oldest estates in Burgundy. At the head of an exceptional estate in the Côte d'Or, the family’s 9th generation still perpetuates their unique know-how in the art of making fine Burgundian wines.

Built up over the years, the vineyards of Bouchard Père et Fils estate now spread across 130 hectares of vines. Combining prestigious Burgundian appellations and exceptional plots, the Bouchard Père & Fils vineyard owns a truly unique wine heritage.

The vineyard

A benchmark among fine Meursault wines, they stem from a 2.65-hectare vineyard with an east/south-east exposure, resting on gravelly clay-limestone soils with iron elements. One of the first Chardonnay plots to be harvested, this terroir carries the name of the supposed historical presence of juniper trees near these vines.

The vinification and ageing

The hand-picked grapes are rigorously sorted before vinification. The pressing is carried out in two stages, firstly evacuating the first juices followed by a 2-hour cyclical pressing. Initial ageing for 9 to 10 months in French oak barrels (up to 15% new barrels depending on the vintage) in the Bastion cellars of the historic Château de Beaune. Additional ageing for 3 to 4 months in stainless steel tanks before bottling.
