Description

The power and aromatic brilliance of a Chambertin Grand Cru, enhancing the nuances of Pinot Noir

The estate

The Bouchard Père & Fils estate was founded in Beaune in 1731. With almost three centuries of history, Bouchard Père & Fils is one of the oldest estates in Burgundy. At the head of an exceptional estate in the Côte d'Or, the family’s 9th generation still perpetuates their unique know-how in the art of making fine Burgundian wines.

Built up over the years, the vineyards of Bouchard Père et Fils estate now spread across 130 hectares of vines. Combining prestigious Burgundian appellations and exceptional plots, the Bouchard Père & Fils vineyard owns a truly unique wine heritage.

The vineyard

This vineyard, which produces iconic Chambertin-Clos de Bèze wines, dates back to the 7th century. During a time when the monks from the Bèze Abbey created the famous Clos, it is the most prestigious Grand Cru in the Gevrey-Chambertin village today. 14 and a half hectares of Pinot Noir vines rest there, anchored in a soil composed of clay, limestone, marl and disintegrated rocks with potassium, phosphorus and iron elements. A single winemaker is fully dedicated to working this plot. Each and every day, he constantly seeks the perfectly balance in order to fully express the nuances of the terroir.

The vinification and ageing

Following the manual harvest, the grapes are sorted and destemmed, either totally or partially, depending on the vintage. Fermentation in small containers is completed by a gentle pressing. Vatting for 12 to 15 days depending on the vintage. Aged for 10 to 18 months in French oak barrels (60 to 85% of which are new) in the Bastion cellars of the historic Château de Beaune.
