An outstanding, ample and refined Tuscan wine
The property
Founded in 1385, the Tenuta Tignanello, located in Tuscany in the Chianti Classico, is a jewel of 319 hectares, of which 130 are dedicated to the vine. Under the direction of Marchese Piero Antinori, the family revolutionized Italian viticulture with the Tignanello, a pioneer of the Super Tuscans, integrating Bordeaux grape varieties. The estate stands out for its unique galestro and alberese soils, and an ideal microclimate.
The vineyard
In the heart of the Chianti Classico, in Italy, between the winding valleys of the Greve and the Pesa, the Antinori – Tenuta Tignanello estate flourishes on the gentle hills of a sun-drenched Tuscan landscape. This subtle balance between geological richness and climatic contrasts creates an exceptional terroir, conducive to the creation of great Tuscan wines.
The vintage
The year 2022 was marked by below-average rainfall until August, with a particularly hot spring and summer. The months of June and July recorded temperatures above historical averages. Mid-August brought welcome rains and a drop in temperatures, followed by excellent autumnal weather conditions that allowed for optimal ripening of the grapes.
Vinification and aging
For the Tignanello 2022, vinification took place in truncated vats, with carefully controlled maceration to extract aromas, color, and tannins. After malolactic fermentation in barrels, the wine benefited from aging for over 13 months in French and Hungarian oak barrels, followed by an additional 12 months of refinement in the bottle.
Grape varieties
The Tignanello 2022 is made from a blend of sangiovese, cabernet sauvignon, and cabernet franc, respecting the historical composition established since 1982.
