Description
The elegance and finesse of a Tuscan red wine
The estate
The history of the Antinori family in the world of wine goes back more than six centuries, making their name a symbol of quality and tradition in the Italian wine world. Located in the heart of Tuscany, the Antinori - Badia a Passignano estate in Chianti Classico is a tribute to the ancestral know-how and passion for wine that have driven the family for 26 generations. This exceptional site, which combines ultra-modern facilities with a deep respect for tradition, is a perfect illustration of the Antinori philosophy: innovate while preserving the heritage of the past.
The vineyard
This 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione from Antinori - Badia a Passignano is a Tuscan wine from a vineyard spread over 319 hectares, 127 of which are allocated to vines. The vineyard, planted mainly with Sangiovese, but also Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, benefits from an exceptional terroir. The clay-limestone soils and favourable microclimate help to produce high-quality raisins, enabling Antinori to create wines of great finesse and complexity.
Winemaking and ageing
Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. This is followed by a maceration phase lasting 12 to 15 days. This Chianti Classico wine is then aged in French and Hungarian oak barrels for 12 to 14 months.
