Description
A Chablis with surprising finesse and minerality
The estate
Although the history of the Bichot family dates back to 1214, it was in 1350 that they decided to settle in Burgundy. Thereafter, the doe, representing the family coat of arms, would cross centuries and establish itself as the House’s symbol.
The wine trading business was founded in Monthélie in 1831, under the leadership of Bernard Bichot. It would experience dazzling development throughout the 19th century, notably becoming the official supplier for the Court of Sweden.
An independent and familial house, Albert Bichot is one of the great names marking the viticultural landscape and the standing of wines from Burgundy. Today, it is the 6th generation of the Albert Bichot family, who has taken over the company since 1996, which perpetuates the family’s heritage with just the right dose of modernity.
The vineyard
Today, the Albert Bichot house is at the head of more than 100 hectares of vines, spread from the north to the south of Burgundy, and grouped into 6 prestigious estates: Domaine Long-Depaquit, located in Chablis, Yonne; Domaine du Clos-Frantin and Château Gris, both located in Nuits-Saint-Georges; Domaine du Pavillon, in Pommard. It was in 2014 that Domaine Adélie, dedicated to wines from Mercurey, was purchased by Albert Bichot. The estate bears this name in honour of Albert Bichot’s daughter, who was born in 2003, thus continuing the familial heritage from generation to generation. The beautiful Domaine de Rochegrès vineyard, from the Moulin À Vent appellation, joined the family business in 2014.
The wine
The Chablis Village by Albert Bichot Domaine Long-Depaquit is produced from several plots spread over a total area of 40 hectares, where the vines benefit from clay-limestone soils from the Kimmeridgian period, giving this cuvée complexity and exceptional structure.
