The estate

For over twenty years, the exceptional winegrower, Xavier Vignon, has been considered one of the finest experts in the Southern Rhône Valley. The vineyard

All the wines by Xavier Vignon stem from the Rhône Valley. For the Arcane collection, the winemaker carefully chooses his terroirs in order to explore their full potential. Arcane VI Les Amoureux 2016 comprises five different crus (Lirac, Gigondas, Beaumes de Venise, Vacqueyras and Rasteau), which fully express their unique features. This Côtes du Rhône wine frees itself from constraints, thus offering a sublime and well-balanced expression.

The wine

A true celebration of the eternal love affair between the virtuoso oenologist and the wines of the Rhône Valley, Xavier Vignon's Arcane Les Amoureux 2016 is also the epitome of the perfect marriage between five exceptional crus, all comprised in a unique blend that expresses the depth of Lirac, the structure of Gigondas, the fruity freshness of Beaumes de Venise, the floral sweetness of Vacqueyras and the authenticity of Rasteau.

Vinification and ageing

Following the manual harvest, the grapes are taken to the cellar. The maceration period is long and without mechanical extraction. During the vinification phase, the terroirs are selected according to their mineral concentration and density. The wine is aged in concrete vats in order to preserve the expression of the fruit and the typicity of the terroirs.

The blend

Grenache (80%) and Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Caladoc (20% in total).

The tasting

Nose
The nose opens with notes of ripe black fruit, cherry, blackcurrant, and leads to beautiful peppery notes and notes reminiscent of Mediterranean scrubland and black olive tapenade.
