The estate

For over twenty years, the exceptional winegrower, Xavier Vignon, has been considered one of the finest experts in the southern Rhône Valley. Each wine by Xavier Vignon accurately reflects the desire to reveal the identity of the fine Rhône Valley terroirs, all while expressing his own identity: the Xavier Vignon identity. His exclusive innovations only enhance his creativity, such as the Arcane collection, which promises to take wine lovers on an incredible sensory wine tasting experience.

The vineyard

All the wines by Xavier Vignon stem from the Rhône Valley. For the Arcane collection, the winemaker meticulously selects his terroirs in order to explore their full potential. Arcane Le Fou comprises 5 different vintages, 10 terroirs in the southern Rhône Valley (Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Ventoux, Côtes du Rhône Village...) and 15 variations of Grenache in order to offer the most complex and refined vision of this region’s iconic grape variety.

The wine

Wandering into the unknown, Arcane Le Fou goes well beyond comprehension and reason regarding the winemaking process and offers a Champagne-style blend using the Grenache variety. In this vintage, 5 great vintages and 10 illustrious terroirs are perfectly blended.

Vinification and ageing

A three-week pre-fermentation maceration is carried out to encourage the diffusion of the aromatic compounds. A traditional maceration takes place immediately afterwards. One third of the wine is aged in French and Austrian oak barrels, one third in truncated wooden vats and one third in concrete vats.

The blend

Grenache (85%), Mourvèdre (5%), Syrah (5%) and Caladoc (5%).

The tasting

Nose

The aromatic bouquet reveals the sweet flavours of blueberries, black cherries and lavender with a hint of pepper.

Palate

Arcane Le Fou is a full-bodied, powerful and pure wine. 

Food and wine pairing

This wine will complement duck served with an orange sauce, lamb tagine with apricots, grilled prime ribs, courgette stuffed with seasoned rice, coriander pesto and mature cheeses.

Service and storage

Available today, Arcane Le Fou by Xavier Vignon can also be cellared until 2030/2035. For an optimal tasting experience, serve between 15 and 17 degrees.
