Description
A lively and elegant Chilean wine from VIK
The estate
Located in the Cachapoal Valley, in the foothills of the Andes, VIK is Chile's premier cru. Founded by Alex and Carrie VIK, the estate has a vineyard of more than 300 hectares in the Millahue Valley, named by the indigenous Mapuche people "Lugar de Oro" or "Golden Place". The fruit of an exceptional terroir, combined with the best viticulture and winemaking techniques and practices, VIK's wines are renowned for their elegance combined with a rare aromatic richness.
The vineyard
2019 is a Chilean wine that stems from vines cultivated in Millahue, in the Cachapoal valley, on a deep and porous granite soil.
The vintage
The cool spring and average temperatures of the summer advanced a rapid ripening of the grapes. Then the cold and sunny autumn weather allowed a fully ripe harvest.
Winemaking and ageing
This Central Valley wine benefitted from 20 months of ageing in French oak casks and 6 months of ageing in Barroir (oak casks that were "toasted" alongside the wood of trees that fell on the estate).
Blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (77%),
Cabernet Franc (23%)
