Description
A intense and balanced Riesling
The estate
When Elizabeth Pichler-Krutzler and Erich Krutzler founded the Pichler-Krutzler estate in 2006, these two wine enthusiasts set out to produce unique wines with great character, based on the principles of sustainable viticulture. The challenge has been met, as the Pichler-Krutzler wines reflect both the great expertise of the estate and the exceptional terroir of the Wachau region. Thus, in addition to the interesting geology and climate, the passion and respect of the owners for their vines result in great Austrian wines that are a pure expression of nature.
The vineyard
This 2018 Riesling Ried Pfaffenberg Alte Reben from Pichler-Krutzler is a Wachau wine from the Steiner Pfaffenberg vineyard, whose 65-year-old vines are planted on soil dominated by quartz and mica.
Winemaking and ageing
Following the harvest at the end of September, the best grapes were carefully selected by hand. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks. Aged for 9 months on lees.
