Description
A seductive Saint-Joseph red wine of minerality and power
The estate
Established since 1808 in Tain-L'Hermitage, the M. Chapoutier house embodies today the elite of the greatest names in the wines of the Rhone Valley.
Winemaker and merchant, Michel Chapoutier has managed over the vintages to lead this family business to the top. The wines of Maison Chapoutier are recognized for their refinement and high quality by the most discerning connoisseurs beyond borders. A man of many hats, Michel Chapoutier holds the world record for 100/100 scores awarded by American critic Robert Parker. Mathilde, Michel Chapoutier's daughter, has taken up the torch of this iconic house, overseeing a vineyard of over 350 hectares across the most prestigious appellations of the northern and southern Rhone Valley.
The vineyard
The Granilites 2020 from M. Chapoutier is a Saint-Joseph wine from a selection of parcels located in the municipalities of Charnas, Tournon and Mauves. Facing southeast on granite soils, they benefit from a natural exposure to the wind ensuring regular freshness during the summer.
Vinification and aging
Manual harvest. Fermentations in thermoregulated concrete vats with indigenous yeasts. Maceration of 4 weeks followed by a malolactic fermentation in barrels. Aging in concrete vats (75%) to preserve freshness and minerality, as well as in French oak barrels (25%) giving the wine structure, power and aromatic complexity.
Blend
Syrah (100%).
