Description
The complexity and balance of an Italian wine by Endrizzi
The producer
The story of Cantina Endrizzi began in 1885. The philosophy of the owners, Paolo and Christine Endrici, is founded on basic principles: understanding that wine is the end result of a series of practices in which environmentally friendly farming plays a central part. With this in mind, the estate has banned the use of chemicals and has reduced the addition of sulphites to the wine. These are the reasons why Cantina Endrizzi's wines are so well known. Indeed, these sublime Italian wines stand out due to their unique character, portraying the terroir in which they grew and bearing the Endrizzi trademark.
The vineyard
Located in an enchanting place to the south of the Alps, Cantina Endrizzi is considered one of the oldest vineyards in Trentino and is situated between the warm Mediterranean and cool continental climates. The Pian Di Castello, Masetto and Kinderleit vineyards are all located near the village of San Michele all'Adige, in the heart of the Italian Adige region.
The wine
Teroldego Rotaliano Superiore Riserva 2018 is a Trentino Alto-Adige wine from the Mezzocorona and Mezzolombardo vineyards. The vines are grown in a traditionally manner, on pergolas and rest on fertile gravel soil. The terroir benefits from a warm microclimate with a healthy difference between day-time and night-time temperatures.
Winemaking and ageing
Following the manual harvest, during which the best grapes were selected, the grapes were taken to the cellar in order to begin a very precise vinification process. Firstly, the grapes were fermented at a controlled temperature for 10 days. Malolactic fermentation on this Italian wine followed in oak barrels before ageing in barrels.
