The estate

Domaine E. Guigal was founded in 1946 in Ampuis by Etienne Guigal. His son, Marcel, took over in 1961. Today, the third generation continues the heritage and values of this emblematic Rhône Valley family estate.

Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage: the E. Guigal estate oversees a mosaic of vineyards placed in numerous appellations which make up a range of Rhône Valley wines of irreproachable quality.

Over the vintages, the E. Guigal house has seen huge development, notably becoming the owner in 1995 of the famous Château d’Ampuis, as well as many other winegrowing estates (Jean-Louis Grippat, domaine de Vallouit, Domaine de Bonserine and Château de Nalys, in Châteauneuf-du-Pape).

The vineyard

A big name among Saint-Joseph wines, Vignes de L’Hospice from E. Guigal is a wine which stems from the appellation’s emblematic vineyards. Aged between 20 and 80 years old, the vines are planted on a steep granite hill.

Colour
The wine is of an elegant dark red colour.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet is powerful, releasing intense black fruit notes mingled with delicate scents of new wood.

Palate
Graced with a powerful attack, the palate has a great finesse in the expression of its tannins.

For the best tasting, serve between 16°C and 18°C.

Storage

This red wine can be laid down until around 2030.
