Description
The roundness and richness of a white Crozes-Hermitage wine signed E. Guigal
The property
The E. Guigal Estate was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal, in Ampuis. His son, Marcel, took over in 1961. Today, the 3rd generation continues the legacy and values of this iconic family house in the Rhône Valley.
Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage, the E. Guigal estate oversees a mosaic of vineyards located in numerous appellations that form a range of Rhône Valley wines of impeccable quality.
Over the vintages, the E. Guigal house has experienced strong growth, notably becoming the owner in 1995 of the famous Château d’Ampuis, as well as several wine estates (Jean-Louis Grippat, Domaine de Vallouit, Domaine de Bonserine or even Château de Nalys, in Châteauneuf-du-Pape).
The vineyard
This cuvée is a wine from the Rhône Valley partly from the old vineyard of Domaine L. de Vallouit, taken over in 2001 by E. Guigal. About 25 years old, the vines resting on pebbly, warm and filtering soils are partly planted on hillsides.
Vinification and aging
After the harvest, the grapes undergo traditional vinification. Control of fermentation temperatures around 18°C. The aging of this Crozes-Hermitage white wine is about 9 months, part of which is in wood.
Blend
Marsanne (95%)
