Description
The concentration and refinement of a Côte-Rôtie wine by Stéphane Ogier
The producer
For 6 generations, the Ogier family has been one of the indispensable producers of the fine wines of the Rhone Valley. After studying viticulture and oenology as well as many experiences both in Burgundy and abroad, Stéphane Ogier joined the family domain in 1997 alongside his father, Michel Ogier. Produced in limited quantities and magnifying the purest expression of their home territory through parcellary wineries, the wines of the Stéphane Ogier estate are known for their finesse and elegance.
The vineyard
The Domaine Stéphane Ogier watches over a vineyard whose surface has gradually developed from 2,5 hectares of vines in 1997 to more than 20 hectares spread over iconic names such as Cote-Ratie, Saint-Joseph, IGP hills Rhodaniennes and Condrieu.
The wine
The La Côte-Blond 2015 of the Domaine Stéphane Ogier is built from an emblematic vineyard of Côte-Rôtie, whose name comes from the separation in the Middle Ages by the Lord of Maugiron, of his land between his two daughters, one brunette and the other blond. 2015 is the first vintage of this wine, which comes from a vineyard replanted in 2010.
Blend
La Côte-Blonde 2015 of the Domaine Stéphane Ogier is a 100% Syrah.
Tasting
Nose
The nose exhudes intense fruity and floral fragrances, along with a subtle minerality.
Palate
Of a beautiful concentration, the palate seduces with its delicate tannic weft and its radiant fruit.
Guard
Accessible from today, this fine wine of Côte-Rôtie can be cellared until about 2040-2050 to develop the entirety of its aromatic palette.
