Description
A precise and aromatic Sancerre wine
The estate
Henri Bourgeois set up his eponymous estate in 1950, when he started working two hectares of vines in the middle of the village of Chavignol, with the ambition of producing quality wines that reveal the great Sancerre terroirs.
Arnaud, Lionel and Jean-Christophe Bourgeois are the third generation to run the estate, whose wines have been united since January 2018 under the name Famille Bourgeois.
The estate draws particular attention, as much for its respect for biodiversity when running the vineyard as for the precision of plot winemaking. In this it is one of the pioneers, ensuring each wine is the most pure expression of each of these great terroirs.
The vineyard
The d’Antan 2019 wine from Famille Bourgeois is a Sancerre wine stemming from a plot planted in 1936 and run by biological agriculture on a flinty terroir.
Winemaking and ageing
Produced according to ancient methods (« d’antan » in French), the grapes are first subjected to a soft pressing. Fermentation takes place in old oak casks. Ageing on fine lees over the course of a year. The wine is only racked twice, in line with moon cycles. An additional two years of ageing after bottling in the estate cellars. No fining or filtration.
