A delicate and aromatic red wine from Gigondas

The producer

Frozen in time, the Domaine du Clos des Tourelles is the first building to be constructed outside the ramparts of the village of Gigondas.

Surrounded by walls built in the 17th century, the estate's uniqueness lies in its exceptional 10-hectare vineyard, which includes an enclosed plot containing old Grenache vines.

The wine

The Clos des Tourelles 2018 is made from a selection of plots located below the village of Gigondas, facing north-west and benefiting from an ideal micro-climate which favours the slow ripening of the grapes. This terroir rests on soils composed mainly of limestone with a sandy-marl matrix.

The vintage

The very mild conditions at the beginning of the year favoured an even flowering period. The end of spring was marked by rainy spells leading to a heavy mildew pressure. Thereafter, optimal weather conditions persisted until the harvest.

The vinification and ageing

The grapes are harvested by hand with the greatest care and are vinified in whole bunches. Maceration for a few days precedes spontaneous fermentation with wild yeast, accompanied by light punching downs to favour extraction. Following vertical pressing, the wine is aged in tuns for 18 months.

The blend

Domaine du Clos des Tourelles 2018 is a blend of Grenache and Syrah.
