Domaine de la Garance : A Clara 2021

A Languedoc white wine with delightful elegance and richness

The estate

Created in 1991, Domaine de la Garance was born of the ambition to create great wines that would highlight the geological evolution of the superb terroirs of the Midi. The estate offers wines with typical Mediterranean character, perfectly suited to ageing. The reds, for example, are full of depth and personality, while at the same time displaying great subtlety. The whites are very expressive and charming, thanks to their oxidative character.

The vineyard

Located in the Languedoc region, the 8-hectare vineyard is anchored in the last foothills of the Cévennes, to the north-east of Pézenas. Here, an impressive variety of soils provide ideal conditions for the development of red grape varieties such as Grenache, Syrah and Carignan, as well as white grape varieties such as Grenache Gris, Clairette and Chardonnay. The vines, which are on average 55 years old, have been perfectly preserved as Domaine de la Garance works its vineyards organically.

The wine

A Clara 2021 from Domaine de la Garance is a vin de France from a plot influenced by chalky marl, villafranchian and blue clay, where 18-year-old Chardonnay vines flourish.

Winemaking and ageing

Harvested by hand and meticulously sorted in the vineyard. Direct pressing without settling, using indigenous yeasts. Vinification in concrete and stainless steel vats, as was the 6-month ageing period.

A Clara 2021 from Domaine de la Garance is 100% Chardonnay.
