Description
Fresh and complex, a great Hermitage wine
The estate
The iconic name of the great wines of the Northern Rhône Valley, the Paul Jaboulet-Aîné estate was founded in 1834 in Tain L'Hermitage. Renowned wine-grower and winemaker Caroline Frey runs this illustrious estate, owned by the Frey family since 2006. The Paul Jaboulet Aîné estate watches over a vineyard of 125 hectares, spread over exceptional appellations such as Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage, Hermitage, Cornas, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu and Muscat of Beaumes-de-Venise.
The vineyard
The knight Gaspard de Sterimberg, wounded during the Albigensian crusade, asked Queen Blanche of Castille for permission to settle on a hillside in 1224, where he founded his hermitage.
The wine
This Hermitage wine is the result of a rigorous selection of plots of land. It stems from old vines that are between 40 and 95 years old. Trained on stakes and planted on a mosaic of terroirs, these vines contribute to the signature style of this exceptional wine.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand and sorted by plot. Vinification along with gentle extractions. The wine is aged in French oak barrels.
The blend
100% Syrah.
