Description
A fruity red wine from Red Mountain with a great finesse
The estate
Col Solare was borne from two internationally renowned producers meeting, both influential in their respective regions and countries: the Italian marquis, Piero Antinori (Tuscany), and the American estate Château Ste. Michelle (Washington), one of the oldest and most renowned winegrowing estates in the United States. From this encounter in 1995, the first vintage of Col Solare was produced: a very high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon from the exceptional Red Mountain wine terroir. This collaboration has highlighted, through its large vineyard and precise vinification, the subtle alliance between aesthetic, tradition and the resolutely modern vision of the two renowned winegrowers for over ten years now.
The wine
The Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 by Col Solare is produced from 4 vineyards: Col Solare (36%), Quintessence (34%), Shaw 32 (26%) and Kiona (4%).
The vintage
2017 was marked by wonderfully cool climatic conditions. These conditions delayed the ripening process and impacted yields, all while preserving aromas of fresh fruit, as well as the concentration and the tasty acidity typical to the wines of Washington State.
Winemaking and ageing
Ageing lasts for 22 months in French oak barrels (100% new).
Blend
The Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 by Col Solare is a mostly Cabernet Sauvignon wine (97%) with Cabernet Franc (3%).
Tasting
This Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 by Col Solare seduces with its aromatic palette, which combines fruity fragrances (blackcurrant, dried fruit, cherry) with notes of anise, spices and cocoa. The tannins are delicate and greatly refined.
