Description
A Generous and Refined Chateau Troplong Mondot
A Premier Grand Cru Classe B, Chateau Troplong Mondot is today considered one of the most prestigious properties of the Right Bank in the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation of Bordeaux.
Chateau Troplong Mondot 2012 is made from a blend of 90% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc from the superb clay-limestone soils of the Saint-Emilion plateau at the top of the Mondot Hill, across from Pavie.
The product of a late and very demanding vintage, the Chateau Troplong Mondot 2012 is surprisingly beautiful. At the tasting, this wine displays a deep red colour, which is almost black. On the nose, the power and aromatic complexity are characterised by generous notes, evoking cherry liqueur, sumptuous chocolate and toasted notes of coffee. On the palate, the attack is frank and full-bodied, offering a great complexity of flavours, coupled with a creamy mouthfeel and grand scale. This wine offers a nice density, highly concentrated with tannins perfect for a long ageing in the bottle, firm but with a very fine grain. A superb Saint-Emilion - complex, rich and dense.
