Description
A fresh and balanced Bordeaux Dry White wine
The estate
Château Thieuley emerged from history in 1950 when André Courselle bought the château to turn it into a wine estate. In 1972, his son Francis changed the destiny of the estate by transforming the vineyard. The property's original 4 hectares were extended to 80 hectares, covering Château Thieuley, Clos Saint Anne and Château Saint Genès. The inherited passion for wine runs through the family's veins, as today Sylvie and Marie Courselle, both agricultural engineers and oenologists, together drive forward with great talent the quality of the monumental work accomplished by their father.
The vineyard
Produced in the Bordeaux Dry White wines appellation, this Château Thieuley 2022 comes from vineyards that rest on clay-limestone soils.
In a perpetual quest for excellence and respect for the environment, the estate manages its vineyards in a sustainable manner. Labelled "Terra Vitis," "High Environmental Value" and "Bee Friendly," Château Thieuley has made the protection of biodiversity a strong and continuing value.
The vintage
The year 2022 was marked by a spring frost which had a 50% impact on the vineyards dedicated to white wines. Historically early in order to preserve balance and freshness, the harvest began on 18 August and ended on 1 September.
Winemaking and ageing
Skin maceration was followed by pneumatic pressing under nitrogen. Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats before maturing on its lees for five months with stirring.
Blend
Sauvignon Blanc (45%)
Sémillon (40%)
Sauvignon Gris (12%)
